Trumbull Christian Church

History of our Church

Trumbull Christian church circa 1904

While Trumbull Christian Church first met in the back of a blacksmith shop in 1886, the church wasn’t officially established until 1892 when the first church building was built from an old tabernacle that occupied the lot. The church grew and was registered with the Disciples of Christ organization until 1963 when the church became and independent Christian church. As the congregation size grew, the need for a larger building became realized. In 1989, a new addition was built, extending the basement and sanctuary. Since then our church has experienced ebbs and flows in congregation size but ultimately has remained a steadfast, dedicated church rooted in the word of God.

Postcard. Just a great big fine hello from Trumbull. The best town in U.S.A.

The church has been involved in supporting missions, one which has been a proving ground for student ministers from Nebraska Christian College until a full time pastor was hired in 1983. Annual mission trips for church members began in 1988 and continue on today. Mission work has taken members of the congregation to Mexico, New York, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, Georgia, South Carolina and Louisiana.
